The Leeds City School system is inviting Greenwave football players and their parents to meet the new head football coach Jerry Hood at a meeting Friday morning.

The Board of Education is holding a special-called meeting at 9 a.m. Friday at the Leeds High School library to officially vote on naming Jerry Hood, a veteran football coach at Birmingham area schools. The public is invited to attend and meet Hood.

Hood replaces Lee Gibson, who stepped down to take the position of system-wide athletic director. Hood is best known for winning a state championship during his time as head coach at Clay-Chalkville High School in 2014.
