Leeds’ first Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is tonight

Leeds crews planted the tree recently that will be lit tonight.

Downtown Leeds is the place to be tonight for the first Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Food trucks will be open starting at 5 p.m. and stores will be open until 7 p.m. Music will be provided by Revocation Radio starting at 6 p.m.

The Welcome & Tree Lighting by the Mayor of Leeds David Miller will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by a performance by Leeds High School’s band.

Santa will arrive around 6:45 p.m. for selfies under the gazebo.

The Leeds Arts Council will provide hot chocolate and coffee.

Food Trucks will be open from 5-8 p.m. They are:

City Bowls in front of The Pants Store

Pazzo Pizza – 9th Street & Parkway

Lazy Boy BBQ – 9th Street & Parkway

Two Fat Men Catering – 9th Street & Parkway

The event is organized by Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce. The tree was provided by Lehigh Cement Company. City works director Johnny Warren and City of Leeds workers planted the tree and decorated the gazebo and grounds of surrounding the area. Bass Pro Shops donated the garland and wreaths. The Redevelopment Authority and the City provided funds and support. Dona Bonnett provided all of the publicity.
