Leeds City Schools to temporarily halt lunch distribution next week, local churches to pick up slack

LEEDS — Leeds City Schools announced on Sunday that they will not serve lunches during the week of March 23-27.

Local churches, instead, will serve lunches to the community starting on Monday, March 23, 2020.

Leeds City Schools will return to providing lunch beginning the week of Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Leeds Middle School cafeteria on Tuesday and Thursday only.

The school district posted an alternate schedule on Sunday, which is as follows:

  • March 23: First Baptist Leeds will provide lunches from 11 a.m. to noon in their parking lot.
  • March 25: Mosaic Chapel will provide lunch in the LES parking lot from 11 a.m. to noon.
  • March 26: Valley View Baptist will provide lunches from 11 a.m. to noon in their parking lot.
  • March 27: Cedar Grove Baptist Church will serve lunches from 11 a.m. to noon in their parking lot.
