Leeds City Council asked to approve Wintzell’s liquor license Monday night

Wintzell's edges closer to getting a liquor license in Leeds.

Wintzell’s Oyster House in Leeds has been open since March but without a liquor license.

Owners opted to open while they worked through the arduous process with the state and city to get one.

On Monday night, they could move one step closer to selling beer, wine and liquor when the Leeds City Council is asked to approve the license for the restaurant at 1770 Ashville Road.

After receiving city approval, manager Donald Jones said they will need the state’s OK, which should take a week or two.

Since March, guests have been allowed to bring their own drinks, but it could not be served by staff.
