Greenwave grabbed their second win of the season Friday night in a 24-12 win against Childersburg Tigers at Childersburg.
Both teams started off in a defensive matchup in the first quarter, with no score for both teams, according to Maxpreps.
Childersburg made the first score with a 13-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, but they missed a two-point conversion attempt, making it 6-0.
In the third quarter with seven minutes left, Childersburg quarterback kept the ball and scored a touchdown bringing the score to 12-0. They again failed at a two-point conversion.
The Greenwave’s offense kicked in in the third quarter with a 9-yard rushing touchdown and a successful extra point kick to make the score 12-7.
With under a minute left in the third quarter, the Greenwave struck again with a 7-yard rushing touchdown and extra point kick good, giving the Greenwave the lead 14-12.
In the fourth quarter with six minutes to go, Leeds kicked a 22-yard field goal to lengthen their lead to 17-12.
Childersburg tried to make a scoring drive on a fourth down and failed, turning the ball over to Leeds on downs. That gave Leeds the ball on Childersburg’s 26-yard line. Greenwave took advantage of the situation and took the ball in for a touchdown on their first down and got the extra point, widening the lead even more to 24-12.
Leeds plays Pleasant Grove at home next Friday at 7 p.m.
