First audition for “Esther the Musical” coming up next week

The first audition for “Esther the Musical” at Leeds Arts Council is coming up next week, with an additional audition to be held the following day on June 1.

“Esther the Musical” is a faith-themed performance about a young Jewish orphan who becomes Queen of Persia in the Ancient World. The performance will be directed by Lucy Lunsford.

Those interested in auditioning are asked to prepare 16 bars of a Broadway musical type song. Cold readings from scripts will follow singing.

Character roles are: Esther, King Xerxes, Haman, Memucan, Mordecai, Vashti, Tala, Zefresh, the Stooges, Crabby, Hegai, Daria, Leila, Parisa, Bigthan, Teresh and other characters.

Auditions will be held at Leeds Arts Council on May 31 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and June 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Performances will begin on July 18 and will run through July 28.
