Celebrated chef from Leeds honored with Tuskegee scholarship in his name

Leeds native Michael Glenn, a celebrated chef, is being honored by the Shelby County Alabama, Tuskegee Alumni Club at their annual Scholarship Fundraising Event on Aug. 25 with a scholarship in his name and a prestigious award.

Glenn, who is executive chef at Blue Cross Blue Shield, was born and raised in Leeds and is a graduate of Alcorn State University. Glenn is also the founder of Catering by Ambrosia and GaBriella’s Bistro and Art Gallery in Birmingham.

Committee Chair Walter Mathis said Glenn was selected to receive the Community Service Award for his leadership, generosity and compassion toward others. Glenn has given his time, talents and money to organizations, churches and charities to help individuals, families and their communities in Alabama for more than 26 years. Organizations that have benefited from Glenn’s kindness include Miss Alabama Pageant, American Liver Foundation, Alabama Head Injury Foundation, the Diabetes Trust Foundation, American Heart Association, the Civil Rights Institute, the American Culinary Federation, Greystone YMCA’s Youth Development Program, Girls Inc., Links Inc., Safe House Domestic Violence Shelter and the Bell Center Youth Alliance.
