ALDOT to close lanes on I-20 this week for testing

Lanes will be closed on I-20 next week for bridge inspections.

Expect lane closures on I-20 as the Alabama Department of Transportation performs geotechnical investigations from milepost 140.11 to milepost 147.9 this week.
The lane closures will be as follows:
• Work will begin on I-20 tonight between (exit 147) Kelly Creek Road and US-78 exit 140 in the I-20 Westbound center and inside (left two) lanes; and
• Work will continue through Wednesday from (exit 140) US-78 to (exit 147) Kelly Creek Road in the I-20 eastbound center and inside (left two) lanes.
Lane closures will be required in the direction of work from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. while the work is in progress. The geotechnical operation should be completed within the period described above, dependent on weather conditions and work progress.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this geotechnical operation to improve Alabama’s roadways, the release says.
ALDOT’s mission, the release says, is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama. For further information, visit www.dot.state.al.us.
